I visited White Sands National Monument in New Mexico a couple of years ago. It was winter and the color of the sand made me feel like I am in the middle of snowy hills. One of my most memorable scenes from the desert was to meet these yuccas – some were standing, some were half buried, and some were dying in the white sands.
